Mahindra 3XO teaser launched; expected price and launch date

Mahindra 3XO Rear

Mahindra is all set to launch its new SUV which is Mahindra 3XO, it is the facelift version of Mahindra 300 which was launched in 2019. Mahindra has now formally unveiled its teaser, revealing a sneak peek at the new look. The fact that the new XUV300 is called XUV 3XO is unexpected, nevertheless. With this facelift, Mahindra hopes to reclaim its supremacy in the compact SUV market, as its more recent competitors have been undermining its popularity for some time. This will be the first update of the Indian compact SUV since its inception in 2019. Here’s a closer look at what to expect from the next Mahindra XUV 3XO.

MAHINDRA 3XO: ENGINE

With a 1.5-liter diesel, a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.2-liter direct injection turbo-petrol (TGDI), the Mahindra XUV3XO will retain the same engines as the XUV300. The 1.2-liter, 131-horsepower turbo-petrol (TGDI) engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission (torque converter) from Aisin, which is the main talking point in terms of the powertrain. With their 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engines, the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Kushaq all use the same powerplant. The 6-speed manual and automatic manual transmission options will remain available for the other two engines. In addition, as we previously reported, the XUV3XO will receive an EV drivetrain later this year.

MAHINDRA 3XO: FEATURES

The teaser does not offer too much, but it does reveal that Mahindra’s Born-Electric SUV lineup served as a primary design inspiration for the XUV 3XO’s recent big redesign. The XUV 3XO’s front fascia features a reworked front bumper, headlight configuration, fang-shaped LED daytime running lamps, a sharper snout, and a chrome-finished triangular pattern on the new two-part grille. Additionally, the bumper’s center air intake is bigger than it is on the present model. The XUV 3XO is mounted on a fresh set of dark chrome alloy wheels. The XUV 3XO has a fully reworked tailgate at the back that houses the Mahindra “Twin Peaks” logo above the new “XUV 3XO” designation.

MAHINDRA 3XO: INTERIORS

Although the XUV 3XO’s inside has not yet been fully disclosed, the teaser offers a peek of the updated seat upholstery and the upcoming touchscreen unit, which is anticipated to include two 10.25-inch screens—one for the infotainment system and the other for the instrument cluster, similar to those found in the XUV 400. A new panel for HVAC controls and a redesigned dashboard layout have already been alluded at in the spy photos. The XUV 3XO is probably going to have the same characteristics as the present model, plus some additional contemporary conveniences like ventilated front seats and a wireless phone charger. Mahindra may also add a segment-first panoramic sunroof on it.

Notable improvements over the current XUV300 include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, an auto-dimming IRVM, wireless mobile charging, rear USB ports, and a revised steering wheel. The XUV 3XO may also get features like variable steering weight and dual-zone climate control.

SAFETY

The XUV 3XO is probably going to be a very good safety option for sub-4 million SUVs. We say this because the XUV 3XO will come equipped with all four disc brakes, up to seven airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, and a 5-star crash safety promise. In this section, getting all of these in one package is unprecedented.

LAUNCH DATE AND RIVALS

The car had been due for a while and with things heating up in the sub-4 compact SUV segment due to all the players getting a major refresh, Mahindra has timed the car’s entry pretty well. The SUV is all set to launch on 29th of April 2024. As for the competition, the XUV3XO will continue to rival other compact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.

The price of Mahindra 3XO will approximately start from Rs 9 Lakh(ex-showroom).
